Inconsistencies
While I initially very much enjoyed my move-in process from application/viewing through move-in, after only 2wks I’ve noticed inconsistencies w/ both management & previous maintenance.
The original reason I came to love this complex was because my pseudo family has lived here for 2+yrs. During that time things have declined. The back gates stopped working, were forced open, then screwed/welded shut. There’s now only 1 entrance/exit. The front gate doesn’t work either, so although it’s a “gated... community,” there is no actual security. The back/side gates have repeatedly been broken for access, and I was told they would not be fixed.
Previous maintenance was very slow, if completed at all. A new maintenance tech started around my move-in, and so far my requests have been completed the same day, which is a huge plus.
13dys after moving in, I submitted a request because my oven light didn’t work. It was discovered the bulb had melted, causing an electrical issue requiring the stove be replaced. This should’ve been caught during make-ready but was overlooked. The new maintenance tech immediately took accountability & worked to resolve it.
While replacing the stove, I observed him using a damaged dolly w/ a broken wheel to move a full-size stove by himself. It scratched my floor, which he immediately apologized for & offered to return to clean. I appreciated his professionalism, but it was concerning seeing an employee expected to do this job w/ damaged equipment.
When I noticed the replacement stove being taken away, I asked management why. She came over, asked what happened, & after I explained the basics responded, “You need a new stove for a light bulb?”
Maybe it’s my years in management/customer service, but I gather facts before questioning someone. I calmly explained:
Light out ? maintenance request ? melted bulb ? electrical issue ? stove replacement.
While I was still explaining, management answered her phone & walked off.
That interaction felt less like trying to understand the issue & more like dismissing both a resident’s concerns & her own maintenance staff.
While getting me in here was a pleasant experience, it appears that once you’re in, the masks fall.
I was asked verbally & electronically to leave a review. This reflects my personal experience during my 1st 2wks as a resident.

Property Manager at CHANEY PLACE TOWNHOMES responded to this review
Hello, thank you for your feedback and both of your reviews both positive as well as your concern. I'm happy to address both, first, thank you for your kind review and email stating how pleased you were with customer service.
We certainly apologize... if you feel you were treated poorly as our team strives to provide excellent customer service. Unfortunately, sometimes appliances have issues after a resident moves in that we cannot foresee during the make ready process. I'm happy to hear that maintenance was able to swap out your stove the same day and there was no delay. Thank you again and thank you for choosing Chaney Place!
