Mixed results: This place has so much potential, but ...

Any corporate managed apartment is not going to be perfect I'm giving Ironworks a review after living here for over a year. If you’re considering this please proceed with caution.

From the beginning...
We rented a unit site unseen (don’t make that mistake in their sales pitch). Someone was still living in it, I thought we came to a reasonable deal with the rate, and we were double assured the furnishings & equipment were the same from the model we toured to our new unit (you can see where this...
is going). We opted for taking an 18-month lease so our life doesn't have constant change/ moving (they refused to offer an 18 month at renewal btw). Then move-in day comes. Our bathroom is 100% different from the model unit they showed us and different than what we were promised in terms of the furnishings. The mirror is just stuck to the wall with a basic wooden frame. Not the touch screen backlit mirror we were shown. Gone was all the marble in the bathtub area replaced with a boring dated beige solid surface.I was beyond disappointed. It's clear that there wasn't any walkthrough of this unit prior to our move-in. Paint splatter in areas, a large gouge on the fake wood floor, a grimy shower head, mildew/hold in the washing machine, multiple kitchen cabinets that weren't aligned correctly to close, in the refrigerator whose ice machine wasn't working.

While living here...
If you like to use the gym, it looks pretty nice... If the equipment you like is fixed. Many community members asked for things to be fixed which took many weeks, for weeks. The temperature was almost in the '80s.

Late night alarms... I'm mostly writing about the faulty sensors that have led to more late night evacuations than I can count.

Outside…Do you like a rooftop patio? it took 6 months for it to open after it said that it was going to be open. The outdoor courtyards Always have bird poop the piles up on the blue fabric seats. Bird feeder drilled into building directly above me and management won’t take true action to remove it. Loved that time they sent a few emails about external power washing; I moved my items for nothing to ever occur.

The physical apartment outside of the bathroom is relatively good... The kitchen island to be sinking. Maintenance staff are quick to respond when you submit a request. The maintenance staff and the office staff are definitely friendly and I do see quality attempts to keep the common areas cleaned up.

No Quiet enjoyment- you have been warned

If you are considering Ironworks- Sunnyvale please read first:
      The good:
The apartments are spacious and have tons of storage space. Comes with an additional mini storage outside. They have modern finishes and appliances that are in good condition or will be quickly repaired if not.The staff, especially JuliANN, are very friendly and try to help you in any way they can. The pool and gym are clean and well maintainedIt is very pet friendly Close to downtown Sunnyvale and the train station...

The bad: Train can be loud if your windows are open. The rugs in the common area could use a good clean and one of the stairs smells like wet dog. Sometimes people spill garbage juice on the way to the trash rooms and it smells for days.If you have more than one car you will use a stacker spot ( elevator for cars like it is common in NY)  If your unit is adjacent to the trash room you will hear when others throw things out AND when the trash is moved for pickup very early most mornings ( even on the weekends).
The UGLY:The ceilings are made of paper and if you get a HORRIBLE neighbor like we did you will literally hear them stomping all day every day at all hours and management won't be able to get it to stop. There is zero quiet enjoyment to be had because if the downstairs neighbors are loud too you will feel the floor vibrate.Your rent will be increased significantly if you don't sign a multi year lease ( $400+ increase)Upon moving out you will lose your deposit because they charge a cleaning fee ($237) and will repaint the entire unit ($227.99) , regardless of the condition it is left. Don't be fooled by the language that makes you think it is optional!  In short, only move here if you don't mind experiencing the Lion King stampede scene every single day and night of your tenancy.

Location and amenities

The location of the building is really good since it’s close to downtown and train station. I also loved the amenities (rooftop terrace, pool, theatre room etc) while living in Ironworks.

The staff is really nice and helpful. I felt they took all the complaints seriously. I agree that there some problems with isolation and that’s why you can hear your upstair neighbors walking around or talking loudly. Still I would recommend Ironworks and live there if I lived in Silicon Valley. If you need a...
quiet place you need to move into a house of your own.

Noisy poorly built

I hesitated and carefully considered posting this review.

Hopefully this review will assist anyone considering this community: I have made over twelve noise complaints the past few months. I have been forced to adjust my work schedule due to lack of sleep.

The building is definitely cheaply built. I don't recommend a bottom floor apartment here at all. Hard to enjoy time with family or get any good sleep, noise all throughout the day and night on many days.

Dogs without leashes in common...
areas, mail room smelly sometimes, trash room is so full on the weekends, the smell is unbearable.

The on-call Onyx Security does not respond when called to address issues and are very rude on the phone.

The staff is mostly courteous and professional, if you get a top floor apartment you might enjoy your stay here, if you don't get any noise complaints.

Avoid Ironworks

The front office staff - some of whom live in the building and have massive parties with their sprawling families - act like teenagers even as they are handling basic lease management functions. After a few months my bicycle was stolen from a locked space inside the apartment - yet they had zero surveillance to help track down the perpetrator- suggesting that it may have been someone in the building. (Yikes). Other neighbors routinely complain of missing packages and missing mail, yet they have... provided no resolution.

Structurally, the walls are paper thin, and the doors and other components of the units are very cheaply made despite massive rents. After nearly 12 months they informed me that my rent would increase over $1000 from nearly 4600 a month to $5700 - which barely seems legal.

I have to caveat bc the the maintenance staff are very responsive and very friendly - it appears to be more of a management or top down issue. I would avoid Ironworks at all costs.
