Disgusting apartment
Living here was an absolutely horrible experience. One of the major problems was a reoccurring water leak in the bathroom that maintenance painted over rather than fixing. There were multiple occasions of chunks of ceiling paint falling onto the floor, the worst leak covered the entire ceiling and was dripping brown water like rain. With this huge leak, maintenance took 3 sessions spread out over weeks to fully fix it and each time they sanded down and repainted they left a fine, gritty, white... dust over the entire apartment and left the bathroom an absolute mess with chunks of ceiling on the floor, paint dripped on walls/floor, and tacks on the wall and on the floor. All other maintenance problems also took weeks to resolve.
The month we moved out, we were charged 3 extra days of rent (after turning in the keys) as well as late fees for water/trash despite paying all charges due at the beginning of that month. It turns out these fees are charged a month after the fact but were not notified about any amount owed until we heard from debt collection. We had to call the office 3 times and schedule an in person meeting for them to drop the late fees and remove the extra rent. Management was difficult to work with and get in touch with throughout the time we lived there. Their posted hours were 8-5:30 but they always left the office early so it was almost impossible to go pick up a package or get help with a problem after work. They also sent a threatening email to residents telling them they must call the cops on any other residents they see at the pool after 7pm outside operating hours. Are you kidding me?
Other problems included bug infestation, we practically had swarms of fruit flies in the summer, we saw large cockroaches occasionally, and small roaches/beetle very frequently. The community was also a wreck with garbage all over the place and dog poop everywhere, and management made almost no effort to encourage a cleaner community. The pool was closed for two years after the hurricane and when it finally reopened, they closed it again for roof maintenance on the leasing office. It was also not equipped with trash cans or bathroom access. The gym did not have heat or cooling, or if it did it did not work.
All these issues began under Lory management and continued when it became the Maynard. In fact, the Maynard has begun to cut down a vast majority of trees on the property, which was the only nice and homey part of the property.
