Smoke-free in name only; serious safety concerns
Review: Smoke-free in name only; serious safety concerns
Prospective tenants are not informed of ongoing smoking issues, despite the building being advertised as smoke-free. Residents are expected to document and report violations to management rather than management addressing them directly. We have experienced smoking from a neighboring unit for years—an issue management is aware of, even if active smoking is intermittent or denied by the resident. Most concerning is that the resident... reportedly uses an oxygen tank, which raises additional fire-safety considerations. There was also a recent unrelated fire that displaced residents to hotels for weeks. Investigations of apartment fires have repeatedly shown that serious incidents can arise from known, unresolved risks—not just construction conditions. If you are looking for a reliably smoke-free environment and transparent management, this is important to consider before signing a lease.
