Gateway at Gaithersburg

Our experience applying at Gateway at Gaithersburg was extremely disappointing, primarily because of the communication and handling of the application process.

My parents' application remained in process for over two weeks, and responses from the leasing office were often very slow. Despite those delays, when additional documentation was requested from us, we were sometimes given only 15–20 minutes to provide it.

On one occasion, I was given a 9:00 AM deadline to submit identification and sent... the requested email at 8:52 AM. I was later told it had not been received and was again given a very short timeframe to provide additional documentation.

The application was ultimately cancelled, with the delay attributed to the applicants not providing documents in a timely manner. That was particularly frustrating because we made every effort to respond promptly throughout the process.

I fully understand that apartment communities have identification, screening, and privacy requirements. My concern is not that Gateway has these policies, but with how the process and expectations were communicated and managed.

We toured several apartment communities in the Gaithersburg area during our search, and unfortunately our experience with Gateway stood out for the wrong reasons. Communication, responsiveness, and customer service are very important to us, especially when deciding where family members will live.

Based on our application and touring experience, I could not recommend Gateway at Gaithersburg.

Staff is very dismissive and almost never answer emails/calls

Everyone is so nice and helpful. Shoutout to the entire team.

They have a nice and roach infestation and maintenance takes forever to come whe you call

We’ve lived here for a while and this place has been mostly ok as long as you don’t need to ask the office anything or need any paperwork from them. Spent weeks going back and forth with them about an issue and being told it’s not their problem and we have to fix it just to have Kim, the main incompetent, finally say oh wait it’s right here, and act like she hasn’t spent about 2 months treating us like we are idiots. They constantly threaten everyone with lease violation fees and lease... terminations in mass spam emails about dog poo (we don’t even have a dog) or smoking or whatever else is going on. They specify no one will come into your apartment when you sign up and then will have almost bimonthly inspections that you will be charged for if they can’t get in. They even lost our homes spare key and told us we had to replace it or they would charge us to rekey the house. Huge security risk since there was a key floating around that had our building and unit number on it and Kim just says it’s not her problem. Currently their portal says you can use the “bridge living” renters insurance but have been sending threatening emails and texts telling us to get renters insurance because the bridge insurance doesn’t count. I could go all day about the horrible office here but I’ll just leave it at if you want some of the cheapest livable apartments come here, if you can afford a tiny bit more to not have these people in charge of your lease please go anywhere else.
