Mold and Roaches

There are a multitude of reasons why you shouldn't rent here.

First off, the roaches. There are so many roaches, both big and small. They come in through the fireplace, vents, and the cracks in the walls. When you submit a maintenance request for pest control, which is part of your monthly fees, no one shows up and the work order is marked as completed.

The original leasing assistant who helped us didn't even tell us all of the fees involved when we first moved in, so we had to find this out...
months after we had moved in! She is no longer employed.

Upon moving in, there are a lot of issues already present. Leaking sinks, HCAV issues, drain flies, broken dishwasher, etc.

In addition to this, there is mold in some buildings, causing perpetual headaches and unsafe living conditions. When this was flagged to management, they took weeks to assist. Gina the regional manager promised one thing then ultimately backed out and left us to figure it out for ourselves, since Laurie the VP decided it wasn't a big enough deal to be out of house and home. We were out of pocket for the time we weren't able to live in this unit, in addition to having to pay for a second round of movers, after having just unpacked, just to need to do it all again. What's even more disturbing, is this unit is already back on the market with no warnings to future tenants. The maintenance team has yet to open up the hole in the ceiling that caused the mold (due to a leak from the upstairs neighbors) and properly remove this hazard.

Do not move here. You will be disappointed in the quality of living, and the quality of character from nearly all the staff. The only saving graces are Bailey from the front office and Chuck on the maintenance team.

Don't, you will regret it.

After living in my fair share of apartment complexes both good and bad, Crestline Cary is definitely the worst.

After moving here in late May, the problems started almost immediately.

First, the bugs - I am not just talking about roaches, which are abundant. My apartment had an issue with ALL bugs, and every day involved killing at least 5 different things. Spiders, beetles, silverfish, big and small roaches, and crickets to name a few. Calls for pest control and to inspect my apartment for...
where the bugs could be coming in from fell on deaf ears, as nothing ever improved. Large roaches above my bed and a dead roach in my drain the kept the plug from being screwed in.

Then, less than a week after I moved in I came home to a very big leak coming out of one of my ceiling lights. It had been going on for hours as my carpet and floor were completely soaked, and I had to call in an emergency maintenance request to have it mended, which meant having an industrial blower airing out a giant hole in my wall for days, which was incredibly inconvenient for someone who works from home.

Now for the biggest issue - shortly after the leak, I began getting consistent headaches that only occurred in my apartment. A large pressure in the temples that made it impossible to live there, and happened so quickly that both my partner and a leasing agent (Brittany) both felt after staying in my apartment for more than 10 minutes. I could not live there without wearing a mask.

After demanding that I be allowed to transfer, I was finally moved to a different apartment across the complex, which was one of three that I toured and the only one without dead bugs inside.

So in a matter of 2 months I moved into an apartment that was uninhabitable, and then had to repack and pay movers again to move my things to a second apartment, and repay the security deposit. As a show of good faith I also asked to be included in the 8 week special that was going on as I had to sign a new lease and I needed a financial reprieve from everything that has been happening to me, or at the very least a credit for the month I could not live in my apartment when I was trying to figure out what was wrong and working with the office to fix it.

Are they willing to do it? No.

I also know they have put the apartment back on the market - save yourself the trouble and do not move into 10413 on Whitemark ln. It is toxic and infested and you will regret the day you move in.

Beware

This is not a non-smoking property and walls a very thin so when we had neighbors who smoke, we had smoke filling our apartment. We were told nothing could be done and that we should have declared we were "sensitive" to cigarette smoke on our tour. If you are a non-smoker and do not want smoke in your own apartment, think twice before renting here.

Not impressed

The property around here is disgusting. Mainly from the residents. A lot of the residents don't care. They throw all there trash everywhere. They don't clean up after their dog/dogs. The dog spa is always dirty with hair. You hear every little step above if you are on the first or second floor. I requested a upgrade before moving in but it was denied. Not impressed at all.
