I’ve never had such a truly unpleasant experience at an apartment before. From day one, it was clear that the place was ROACH infested, which was not disclosed before moving in and we were denied a walk through. The staff here seems completely incompetent and incapable of effective communication with each other, which only made matters worse. To top it off, they kept my security deposit, despite my efforts to clearly convey just how bad the apartment (especially the carpet) was. I would strongly... advise against renting here.

I wish I could give 0 stars. This place is horrible. When my husband moved in the place was a WRECK. They claimed they cleaned but they didn’t. Stuff was left over from the tenants before us. Bugs everywhere. The people that live here don’t care and steal your stuff. They file false complaints about you. My packages have been stolen so many times. People DO NOT pick up after their pets. Parking sucks, they won’t paint the lines. Black mold EVERYWHERE. You hear gunshots every night. Police are... here all the time. In general it is NOT A SAFE PLACE. Laundry rooms are unkept and nasty. The dryers take 3+ times to dry for a small load. Wifi is horrible, it’s $60 a month for the worst Wi-Fi. The only thing okay about this place is the office staff. That’s it. I cannot wait to move. I wish my lease was shorter to move to a safer cleaner place.

Once my wife and I moved in we noticed the apartment was filthy, infested with roaches and had mold. 3 outlets in the living room didn’t work had maintenance come by 6 times and each time they said they were fine, but in fact weren’t. Plumping is horrible, it would’ve been nice to shower in the morning then at night not have to stand in water from your morning shower. The wifi is horrendous, paid $50 for 100mgps did a speed test and got around 5mgps and the wifi would go out probably 10 times a... week at the minimum. Laundry rooms are DISGUSTING, you have to wait hours for people to get their clothes, and 2-3 machines would always be out of order and you have to pay to use them and you have to use the dryer 2-3 times before your clothes even got dry. The mountainous speed bumps going into the complex are aggravating. About once a week in the middle of the night you hear people screaming and fighting then see Fayettevilles Finest flashing lights in the windows. Gunshots every night. Carpet cleaners every night INSISTING on trying to come into your apartment to try and sell you a vacuum. Not upkept at all, the Leasing Office is really nice but the apartments are the total opposite. People park however they want. CONSTRUCTION ALL THE TIME lived there for 7 months and there was construction the ENTIRE time. Do not move here for the sake of your sanity.

The pictures will fool you, like they did me- my husband and I rented for a year while we waited for housing on Fort Bragg, and it was the worst apartment I’ve ever lived in.
I thought it would be a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful neighborhood but I was dead wrong upon moving in. The appliances in the 2bd1bt we rented are from the 90’s and barely work; the insulation on the doors and windows were barely there so bugs and roaches slipped under the cracks VERY often; the toilet was filled with... black mold inside the septic tank which we were instructed to just bleach but why were they even given to us in that condition?; the closet doors fell off every time you opened them; the washers in dryers are so crappy that they don’t even dry your clothes, and you still have to pay at minimum $1.50 for each load. Mind you, there are four washers and four dryers for 3 apartment buildings, with 17 apartments in each building, so most of the time they are all in use and you have to wait hours for people to collect and move their laundry.
The worst part was definitely the management. Because we rented during COVID, I was lenient because I knew this was a tough time we all were trying to get through, but after a certain point enough was enough. My calls to the front office were always ignored at least two times before someone snapped at me and asked what it was I wanted, and it seemed like they tried their hardest to never do their jobs and barely be there for their residents. During my time at Lake in the Pines, I became friends with one of the maintenance men who lived near my apartment, and even he had a rough time dealing with management.
All this to say, save your money, your hair falling out, and your time and DO NOT RENT HERE.
