3rd party fees on fees on fees
I loved living at The Greyson from 2018–2021. Back then, it genuinely felt like a luxury apartment community. You paid a premium, but you also felt like you were getting what you paid for...and, importantly, you had some freedom of choice.
Unfortunately, that experience has changed.
What used to feel like a straightforward rental has increasingly become a long list of additional fees and mandatory services. Residents now have to deal with charges for things like trash pick up serivce, pricy... electricity distribution fees, along with additional fees that can significantly increase the real cost of living here.
The internet situation is another disappointment. There are now internet-related charges tied to the property, and in my experience, the service is nowhere near as good as AT&T. Paying extra for a service you don't want or didn't choose doesn't feel like luxury...it feels like being nickel-and-dimed.
And then there's the pet DNA requirement. Seriously? At some point, you have to wonder how many new ways management can find to monetize or regulate the resident experience.
What bothers me most isn't that prices have gone up. It's the loss of choice and the accumulation of mandatory fees. I moved here because I wanted a safe, quiet, comfortable place to live where I could pay my rent and have some freedom over the services I used.
The Greyson used to feel like that.
Now, it feels increasingly like the amenities are being used to sell a “luxury” experience while residents are being charged for more and more things on the backend.
I don't expect an apartment complex to stay frozen in time. But I do expect transparency, reasonable value, and some freedom of choice.
**The Greyson I loved in 2018–2021 is not the Greyson I see today—and that's a shame.**
