Steeplechase Apartment Homes

Apartment was in poor condition at move in. Still do not have a fully working oven. Was supposed to have a free month from one of their promotions and now they are telling me I owe rent even though the office confirmed September was free. It has been non stop requests for maintenance. Seriously find somewhere else. Oh and let's not forget the nickel and diming here. It may look ok on the outside but the inside is horrible and so is the management.

I lived at Steeplechase for 7+ years. When West Shore bought this place they skyrocketed prices and let the property absoluely fall apart. They will lie to you at every turn, charge you for anything they can and ignore any and all concerns you have. Grounds have fallen apart, you're lucky if the pools are open, your apartment will have more issues than they will ever admit to. DO. NOT. MOVE. HERE.

Lived here almost a year and had several maintenance issues reported and never addressed. Hot water heater rusted out and it too them six days to replace. They didn't bother to dry the carpet so mold followed. Was charged for "damages" over a year later with no notice at move-out of what was wrong. Left unit clean and empty - nothing broken. Don't go there!!!

I wanna start by saying that this place isn't the worst. I've never had problems with any neighbors or had anything stolen or damaged. It's pretty quiet. However the rent is steep for what you actually get. Tons of extra fees every month too. They charge for trash removal that's only done every couple days, so you'll have garbage bags just sitting next to your front door which I'm sure is what attracts all the roaches you'll see. The "private lake" is just a muddy pond. You won't be swimming in... it. If you stay for more than a year your rent will most certainly go up over $100. My air conditioner has been broken the whole 2 years I've lived here. I reported it and someone came to "fix" it without notice. I came home to find a stranger in my apartment. Mind you, the air conditioner still doesn't work. In the winter they don't turn the heat on in vacant apartments and the pipes freeze. Causing tons of damage. I have lived here for 8 years and have seen managers come and go, even new management companies. Yes a lot has happened this year.The newest manager seems to have stayed longer than any in the last two years.She seems to be doing a great job. My apartment is not new or updated but it is well taken care of by maintenance. Yes we were without water for a few days unfortunately. This was for a repair on an ongoing issue that hopefully is resolved finally. Management was there the whole weekend... keeping us informed of the situation.I have seen a lot of changes this last year, I am hoping for the best.
