Park Newport

I have lived at Park Newport for 56 years. I have lived in the same apartment for 56 years. I have always spoken highly of Park Newport.. I enjoyed time I spent in the clubhouse (but who knows when we can enjoy the clubhouse again).

Greystar has managed this property on behalf of The Prado Group for more than two years. This is the same company that recently settled with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) over anticompetitive algorithmic rent-fixing and hidden rental fees and paid millions in settlements.

Unfortunately, my experience at Park Newport reflects a similar lack of accountability. Resident services have declined rather than improved and the same recurring issues persist, with little visible progress in... communication, responsiveness, or overall service. As the property owner, The Prado Group should expect a much higher standard of resident care and performance from its management company.

On top of that, residents have been dealing with months of disruptive construction. Parking has become a daily challenge as residents compete with construction crews for limited spaces. Hallways are often left looking like construction zones, with dust and debris affecting the appearance and enjoyment of the community. Major amenities... including the gym, pool, and jacuzzi... have been unavailable or significantly impacted for extended periods, despite being part of what residents pay for each month.

Given the ongoing disruption and loss of amenities, residents should receive some form of temporary rent relief or other meaningful compensation while this work continues. Asking residents to pay full rent and a maximum rent increase year over year, while enduring these conditions without any accommodation does not seem like a fair balance.

Great location and fairly priced rent. Community is rather old, but upgrades are in the works. Overall, good selection of community amenities and the market and food trucks and social event gatherings provide nice options to residents. Also, great access to the back bay and other nature areas for hiking, jogging, cycling and beach going.
