Cortland Alameda Station is fine if you can find a unit at a competitive rate. Don't expect the rate to stay competitive when it's time to renew.
The units are nothing special, but they're cheaper than nearby buildings (for new tenants) as a result.
The location is excellent. There are multiple grocery stores in walking distance and a train station basically on top of the property.
Staff are friendly, but management is incompetent. Building access was changed with two weeks notice from a... fob system to a phone app that requires location permissions. The special parking rate that was offered in 2023 and honored when I renewed in 2024 was rescinded with no notice in 2025 for all residents, which doubled my monthly parking cost. I would be less upset about this if there was ANY prior communication.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Cortland Alameda Station. We’re glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the convenience of our location and the friendliness of our team, but we’re truly sorry that aspects of your living experience have... caused frustration.
We understand how important clear communication is, especially when it comes to changes that affect daily life such as building access and parking.
Your feedback about the transition to the app-based entry system and the parking rate adjustment is very valuable, and we regret that these updates were not communicated in a way that met your expectations. We’ll be reviewing our processes to ensure residents receive timely and transparent information moving forward.

Liked my first apartment here but now the office is impossible to reach and again they threw away boxes of my belongings. Also they never communicated move details to me so I was honestly surprised when I was told I was moving.

Living here has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had in an apartment complex. The property is poorly managed and it shows in every area. Rodents are a constant problem, doors and facilities are broken or left unrepaired, and cars get stolen regularly. Neighbors are extremely noisy and it is common to see people loitering or using drugs around the property.
The front desk staff is rarely available and when they are, they do very little to address residents concerns. Stolen packages... are ignored and security is basically nonexistent. The only positive thing is that the maintenance team works hard and does their best, but they cannot make up for the many failures of management.
If you are looking for a safe, well managed, and comfortable place to live, this is not it.
