Poorly Managed

My sister lived here for about 7 months during a tough time in her kids and her’s life. In June, she was asked not to renew her lease which was up in July. While the reasons could have been disputed, no one wants to live somewhere they are not wanted.

In the process of moving out she was harassed by the manager and courtesy patrol officer. As a result of this I offered to handle the remainder of the move out. I asked to do a walkthrough and was told my name was not on the lease and it wasn't...
necessary and they were "scared" to do it with my sister. I called back and tried to talk to the manager about it an was rudely told the same thing and hung up on before I had the chance to say anything.

I went to drop the keys off and see if I could talk to the manager. She came out and snapped at me asking what I was doing there. I calmly replied I had the keys and wished to do the walkthrough as my sister's proxy. She refused and told me to leave or she would call the cops. I said I would, but my sister was on her way with the garage door opener, so I would sit down and wait to give her the keys to handle the situation. She began screaming at the front desk personnel to call the cops. At this point I took a seat with my kids and waited for them to show up.

While waiting, the courtesy patrol officer showed up and began yelling "Is this really worth going to jail over, Is this really worth going to jail over? You could go to jail for this, is this really worth it?” At this point I ask him to stop and motion towards my kids. For a moment he did, but then came back and continued. He then walked out because the cops had arrived. My 6 year old asked if I was going to be arrested. I explained to him that I was not and I have not done anything wrong.

We asked to do a walk through with an officer and the manager denied it saying they would video it. A week later my sister was hit with a $500 bill on top of her deductibles with no video walkthrough. I contacted their regional office and they were very helpful and had the charges reversed. Unfortunately both of the people who were way out of line in this situation are still there.

Worst apartment complex I've ever stayed in

Creekside masquerades as a luxury apartment complex, but DO NOT FALL FOR IT.

This was BY FAR the worst apartment complex I've ever stayed in. My husband's work is seasonal, so we've stayed 21 complexes in 8 states, & this was by far the worst.

Multiple incidents of BLACK MOLD.

Cockroaches. Scorpions. Centipedes. And so so so many spiders.

Gushing leaks coming from the ceiling (and FYI, those were completely unrelated to our mold incident, since that mold came from the cheap AC...
unit)

I should've known from day 1. We moved in & construction debris & dead bugs were EVERYWHERE. I called the office asking it be cleaned. They sent a guy with a swiffer sweeper! He ended up borrowing MY supplies just to get the place to where we could walk around without shoes on!

Things only got much worse.

My friend moved into a unit MONTHS later & had the same problem! As she unpacked, she placed a brand new white comforter on the floor, & when she picked it up, it was covered in dirt!

Moving on... Our neighbors had a ceiling leak from an improperly installed shower drain above their unit, which turned their entire wall into mold. Later we had the same leak in our place, with water pouring out of the ceiling.

Separately, I started to notice mold growing on things like my shoes and the bathroom moulding. I kept cleaning it up. I'm from CO, so I thought maybe that was just Texas humidity. A month after living like that, we were out of town for 10 days. My husband came back first, and his exact words were "my shoes looked like a chia pet."

Come to find out, the cheap AC unit wasn't able to handle a standard texas summer and was blowing mold spores all over! So my 2 young kids were breathing it in all that time.

We lost thousands of dollars worth of personal belongings. Everything had to go in the trash.

Did we get an apology? Nope. They moved us into another unit. We still had to pay rent, even during the time our belongings were being destroyed. They even charged us for electricity during the months we were NOT living in the apartment. Let me be clear, the apartment was so unliveable and so dangerous that they wouldn't even allow their own office personnel to go inside. And we STILL had pay electric on this empty apartment until our lease ran out.

Maybe worst of all... the moldy furniture stayed there for months & they NEVER notified other people in the building who may have been sharing air & breathing in the mold.
